Savages Cry Too

Strength Doesn’t Mean the Absence of Emotion.

I’m a Savage, and I cry, I stress, I worry, and I also get hurt. We all do. It’s part of the human experience. A Savage isn’t a woman who is made of steel. She isn’t immune to anxiety disorders, getting her heart broken, or other mental health conditions. She is, however, someone who doesn’t stay in that place. She does what she can to heal, pivot, move forward, and get back up again.

Part of being a Savage is not putting this monumental pressure on yourself to be superhuman. Feelings are meant to be felt, and there is beauty in the ebbs and flows. You are allowed to have days when you don’t have the answers, when something hurts more than you expected, or when the very thing you thought you had mastered comes back around and tests you again.

Strength doesn’t mean the absence of emotion. Sometimes strength is sitting with the fact that something hurt you instead of pretending it didn’t. Sometimes it’s crying, being disappointed, admitting that you’re overwhelmed, or acknowledging that you don’t have the answer right now. Ladies, there is no prize for being the woman who never breaks down!

What matters is what you do after the thing. You give yourself permission to feel what you feel without building a home there. You figure out what the moment is trying to teach you, what needs to change, what you need to accept, and what you need to let go of. Sometimes that looks like realizing there is something you can fix, and other times you realize the only thing you can change is how you move forward.

I’ve learned that knowing better doesn’t mean you will always do better immediately. You can know your worth and still have moments when you question yourself. You can teach boundaries and still struggle with one of your own. You can also give great advice and find yourself needing to take that same advice! BREATHE - YOU ARE HUMAN, and sometimes you have to go back and read your own shit, trust me, I know lol. That doesn’t make you a fraud; it simply makes you human.
